For December we honor the Queen of Creole Cuisine: Leah Chase. Recipient of numerous honors and awards, this Southern food icon became famous for telling the story of New Orleans through Creole cuisine. Chef Chase's restaurant Dooky Chase was a crucial meeting place for civil rights activists: "in my dining room, we would change the course of America over a bowl of gumbo and some fried chicken."
